In the UK, someone dies from a heart or circulatory condition every three minutes. That’s about the same time as it takes to make a cup of tea. Today, with your help, the British Heart Foundation can support the science and research that develops the treatments for this disease. Act now to prevent heartbreak for families affected by heart and circulatory disease.
How can Your Support Help?
Money raised to support the British Heart Foundation will help to continue our vital heart research. Research is the most powerful weapon we’ve got, and for over 60 years we’ve funded studies that have revolutionised the understanding and treatment of cardiovascular disease.
We’ve funded research which has led to the development of treatments and procedures that we now take for granted such as statins, stents, pacemakers and heart transplants. However as 7.6 million people still face a daily battle with heart and circulatory diseases in the UK (this includes 200,000 people in Essex) there’s still so much to do.
Our Current and Future Goals:
We’re currently funding over 800 different research projects across the country with many projects taking place here in the East of England region, especially in Cambridge. BHF-funded science helps people of all ages, including those who have suffered a heart attack and babies born with a congenital heart defect. And we know that heart disease, stroke, vascular dementia and diabetes are all connected, so our research starts with the heart, but it doesn’t end there. We fund the science that will hopefully one day, we can help to put an end to heart and circulatory diseases.
Want to Get Involved? Here’s How:
We have a variety of offerings that can support Corporate Social Responsibility strategies of supporters and clients, including CPR training to help upskill the nation’s ability to save a life. Take a closer look at the life saving training we provide and read up in detail about the importance of Defibrillators and CPR training, especially within the workplace.
In Essex, we want to work with more individuals and organisations to enable us to fund more world-class science, making discoveries happen, and turning them into medical advances that transform and save lives.
