About Our Charity:

Saint Francis Hospice is an independent charity that specialises in providing care for any person, from any faith or cultural background, who have been diagnosed with a serious illness. For those living in Havering, Brentwood, Barking and Dagenham, Redbridge or West Essex, here at Saint Francis Hospice we offer experienced, compassionate advice and support to those who need it most.

Our Aims and Goals:

The hospice works alongside GPs, community nurses and hospital specialists to help manage pain and other difficult symptoms, with an aim for comfort, and providing the best quality of life. We aim to give our patients as much independence as possible, helping them to feel comfortable when reaching the end of their lives.

Our hospice team not only provides care at the hospice, but for those at home as well. We understand individual and spiritual needs, working closely with local religious leaders and providing food for all dietary requirements, whether custom or ritual.

Our aim is always providing the most comfort and care that we can for patients as well as their families. We understand that often family and friends are providing most of the care, which can take a massive emotional and physical toll on their bodies. So, if you are caring for someone who is nearing the end of their life, we are here to stand by your side, offering support and care at every step of the way. Overall the goal of our hospice is that no one within our care is afraid or in pain, and that no one dies or grieves alone.

How you can Help:

Since our Hospice is independent, there is absolutely no cost, to patients as well as family and friends. We rely on the generous gifts from local people, companies and schools, to help make sure that everyone within the St Francis Hospice’ care is provided with round-the-clock support. We have experienced consultants, doctors, nurses and other health and social care professionals on hand whether you decide to be at home, in the hospice, or in a care home.

However, providing this dedicated and expert care is not cheap. The hospice needs to raise over £8 million each year, since only 28% of our costs are paid for by the government. Our patients in need of our services rely hugely on the 870 skilled and committed volunteers, who help to keep costs down and provide our hospice with joy and support.

There are many ways in which you can help to provide our patients with the utmost care, whether that be through hosting events, fundraising, donating or volunteering within the community. Every penny is appreciated, helping us to make our patients journey comfortable and pain free.
