Each year, Nexus Networking helps raise money for local charities. This year we have supported three major charities: Sawyers Church, Brainwave and Carer’s Trust.
Our members donate something each week at breakfast meetings via charity boxes and throughout the year we raise money through social and fundraising events. Two recent events raised £1470 in total.
From April 2015 to March 2016, Nexus raised over £5376.12 – have a look at how we are supporting each of our amazing charities:
Sawyers Church
Sawyers Church has a strapline which is the foundation of everything we do…. “Working together. Building community. Making a difference.”
At Nexus we work together not only to exchange business but also to put on the fundraising events that support the charities. It was great to see Nexus members working together by taking part in the Nuclear Races and especially helping each other around the course. The friends and business associates that are made at Nexus build community, which means we support one another and take an interest in each other. Nexus members have raised £180.60 for Sawyers Church this year just through their generosity around the breakfast table and with the events that are organised this year there is the potential to raise a lot more. Making a difference is the result. Nexus members make a difference to each other but they also make a difference to Sawyers Church, through the money raised and the support that is given to the fundraising events. Since Sawyers Church joined Nexus in September 2013 the members have raised £14,700!
Brainwave
Brainwave Children’s Charity offers therapy to children with disabilities and additional needs to help them achieve their potential and they would like to thank everyone at Nexus for their support, fundraising and for becoming a Guardian to Toby-Jay who is 3 years old. Being a Guardian means that Toby-Jay receives a year’s therapy to help him achieve milestones in his development. ‘Toby-Jay has Tuberous Sclerosis and Autistic Spectrum Disorder plus he also has seizures. Our therapists are working with him to improve his co-ordination and control whilst walking, his communication skills and his sensory processing abilities.
All the money raised during this year from Nexus will be going towards helping another child to receive a year’s therapy, as it costs Brainwave £3,500 per child per year to keep them on their bespoke exercise therapy programmes and Brainwave does not receive any Government funding. So far Nexus has raised £7,637.65p plus £79.87p from the charity box at each breakfast meeting from Jan – April 2016.
Carers Trust
Carers Trust Epping Forest, Harlow, Havering and Redbridge Crossroads Carer Services, exists to relieve the stresses experienced by Carers and any person or people who have care needs as a result of disability, illness or age, by promoting, offering, supporting and delivering high quality services
Nexus supports the 18-35 club. The project aims to support young people with life and social skills, promote independence and confidence, enhancing wellbeing and making new friends. The attendees are encouraged to try new experiences with the support of professionally trained staff from Carers Trust and to have the motivation to achieve and overcome personal challenges. Carers Trust staff also help some attendees to manage their behaviour and cope with some of the stress and anxieties they may experience.
We truly love supporting such impactful charities and look forward to continue supporting these charities in the future. Interested in what we do? Get in touch with Gavin on 07776 157 503 or email gavin@hawkhurstai.com and we’ll get back to you promptly.
