My career began in retail management working and progressing from department store to Senior Store Manager with River Island and Miss Selfridge after studying Clothing & Distributive Trades. I moved into the world of recruitment and later established my own consultancy, specialising in retail management and operations for both major high street and out of town retailers being preferred supplier to brands such as IKEA, B&Q, House of Fraser, Hobbs, Zara, Arcadia Group, Karen Millen etc. During this period, together with my husband Ian, we developed a property portfolio, before I moved into project management supporting businesses across a range of industry sectors, including a period in Welfare to Work.
Still having an interest in property but also a love of nature and of the outdoors, a recent venture has been converting a cart lodge into a rural retreat which has received a Visit England, Quality in Tourism 4 Star Gold Award and the Luxury Travel Guide Global Awards 2016.
And so after being a Member of the FSB for a number of years, in August 2014 I was asked to also support them as a Membership Advisor for North and West Essex and Hertfordshire area. This involves meeting business owners across the territory on a one-to-one basis, speaking at training seminars and network events as well as playing a part in ensuring the FSB remains the largest business organisation in the UK and supporting its 200,000 plus members.
