Myth 1: Networking will not work for my service:

 

The main focus of networking is not the product or service itself but more so the relationships you build. Relationships have been and always will be the core of a Business’s success, the more people know you the better chance of a sale.

The way you present and carry yourself during these meetings will show your connections and how dedicated and reliable you are. 

Whether you are pursuing new relationships or building older ones, networking is and always will be the best tool to develop your career!

 

Myth 2: It’s only for the extroverts:

 

Many may think that the main characteristics of a good networker include being an extrovert, but that could not be further from the truth. A good networker is smart, disciplined and most of all a good listener. Of course, being a good public speaker has its advantages, but it does not automatically mean you are the best networker out there. The best networker is resilient and is not scared of rejection or failure. Give it a go!  We promise you will not regret it.

 

Myth 3: A business relationship should be organic:

 

This is absolutely false! As discussed earlier on in the blog Networking is a business tool, therefore should be treated as such.

Everything in business is strategic and planned, therefore, so is networking. Connecting with people who you know will be an advantage to you and your business is the whole point of networking.

Personal Socialisation and Networking are not the same, in fact, it is far from it.

 

Myth 4: Networking is about pushing product:

 

The most successful networkers and salesmen realise that selling is more of a people’s business than a product business. When people feel comfortable around you they are more likely to listen to your ideas, product or service.
